Joanna Braithwaite was born in the UK before living in both NZ and Australia.  She now lives and works in Sydney, NSW.  Her paintings border between realism and surrealism, generally depicting either figures or animals or both.  She is concerned with the human characteristics that animals can show and places them in unexpected depictions.
